Little girl, giant voucher
Fred Aldous Ltd is a sponsor of Manchester Art Gallery and gladly provided this £250 voucher for the winner of a prize draw held at the gallery.
Here's what the gallery had to say about this event:
"It's not every day that someone hands you a £250 voucher that's almost as big as you are.
But six-year-old Sinead McHugh was more than happy to accept the giant voucher at Manchester Art Gallery from the Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, Councillor Mark Hackett.
Sinead, of Norburn Road, Longsight, was the first winner of a new prize draw designed to attract more families to the art gallery in Manchester city centre. She can now spend the voucher on art materials at the Fred Aldous shop in Manchester. The old-established family firm is an art gallery sponsor.
Sinead, a pupil at Claremont Primary School in Moss Side, said: "I'm very happy. I like painting different things." Her dad, John, said: "Her teacher said she hoped Sinead would win because she would make good use of the prize."
Twenty-seven thousand children a year visit the art gallery with their schools. Since last September they have been handed vouchers for a goody bag to be redeemed when they return to the gallery with family members. They also get a chance to enter their names into a prize draw – and Sinead's was the very first name out of the hat."
